We live in a time where we need to prepare for just about anything and everything. The fact that our planet is littered with nuclear power plants doesn’t ease my mind either about possible issues that may arise in the future if one of them were to ever be damaged or completely destroyed either by a natural disaster or a planned attack.
Take the tsunami that crippled the nuclear reactors at the Fukushima plant in Japan in March of 2011 for example. The radiation leaked from those damaged reactors and contaminated the water which drained into the ocean. Three years later, debris and radiation is still reaching our North American shoreline affecting both wildlife and humans, stretching a span from California all the way up the coast to Canada and Alaska. What’s worse is that those reactors are still leaking radiation at an alarming rate and there doesn’t seem to be any way to stop it. Fortunately, there is a product out there that can help you, at least with your drinking water.
A while ago I did a product review on the Survival Straw by Clearly Filtered. Today I want to talk to you about it’s big brother, the RAD Survival Straw, which is a survival product that you don’t want to forget to include in your bug out bag!
Apart from filtering out up to 90% of fluoride and 99.99% of all other freshwater contaminants, this handy filter will also remove 99.99% of all Radiological contaminants meaning that you can safely drink any fresh water that’s located in a contaminated zone if you absolutely had to.
Now of course, I haven’t purposely traveled to any areas contaminated with radiation to test this out nor do I even want to. I did, however, test it out in a few local streams and ponds and surely enough it did perform just as well as the standard survival straw. It eliminated the freshwater contaminants and the water tasted great. Knowing that I have this handy RAD Survival Straw on hand helps to ease my mind in the event that I would ever find myself in an area that was contaminated with radiation.
This RAD Survival Straw is capable of filtering up to 25 gallons of water which would last long enough for you to get to a safer area all while giving you the protection that you need. It is made of 100% BPA free plastics. It is small, lightweight and you can easily fit into your pocket or bug out bag. It’s also proudly made in the USA.
Hopefully you’ll never have to use it, but you’ll be glad that you have it on hand whenever you need clean and safe drinking water. Get yourself prepared ahead of time buy purchasing one of these RAD Survival Straws from Clearly Filtered today! They also sell other emergency water filters such as the RAD Eliminator Pro water bottle and the Radiological Water Pitcher.
