Making sure that you have a small crowbar or pry bar in your bug out bag should be one of the things at the top of your list. I’m not talking about carrying one of those honking huge ones that you would use to tear down a house either.  I’m talking about a small one, probably around 12 to 18 inches in length and weighs around a pound or so.

You might think that you don’t want to carry it around because of the added weight, but it will be definitely be a huge asset to have with you when shtf. Find yourself a crowbar that is made of titanium. It will be twice as strong and less weight!  You don’t have to go with the type of crowbar in the picture above.. You might actually find the one below more useful.

Here are some things you can use it for:

- Breaking into a home / building (if you’re starving and are looking for food or shelter)- Self defense weapon
- Hammer things / pull nails
- Destroy things
- Use it to pry up heaving things from the ground such as large rocks, logs, etc.- Use as a climbing hook (but make sure you have it planted properly otherwise you’re toast)

If you have other survival ideas for a crowbar, let us know in the comments below!
