Canned Fish: Food For Your Bug Out Bag
Yes, I know that if you add a good handful of these to your bug out bag they do add quite a bit of weight. They come in a variety of flavors and sizes too. But if you’re in a shtf situation I doubt you’ll be carrying them all over the place without eating any of them along the way. Although they aren’t a complete meal, they will give you much need protein and energy and can help get you past another long and hungry day. I like to keep at least 5 to 10 of them in my pack.
Here are a few things you can do with the tin container:
- Boil water in it
- Cut it up into the shape of fishing hooks
- If you’re not starving and can do without one or two, use it to barter for an item that you desperately need.
Make sure that you dispose of them properly if you’re not going to keep the tin can otherwise it will attract wild animals such as bears. The last thing you want to have to do is shoot a bear because of your stupidity and alert people to your location if you’re trying to stay hidden!
