Grand-Trunk-Double-Hammock-1Today I received my Parachute Nylon Double Hammock from Grand Trunk and will be doing a review for all you InchSurvival followers!

I’ve tried out a few hammocks in the past and did not have a good experience with them.  They were cheaply made and were not comfortable at all and I was expecting the same sort of experience with this one but on a positive note I do have to admit that the comfort and quality of this product is absolutely amazing!  It was also very easy and quick to set up taking me only a few minutes.  There is also no tipping point, meaning that regardless of how I got in and out of the hammock, or how I moved around changing positions when in it, I didn’t feel at any time that I was starting to tip over – it supported me perfectly.

Grand-Trunk-Double-Hammock-2When stretched out, the hammock is about 6.5′ wide by 10′ so there is plenty of room for two people.  If you’re using it by yourself there’s enough material left over on each side that you can take and use it to cover yourself.  When it’s packed in the attached storage bag (see the first picture below), the hammock doesn’t take much room at all – around 5.25″ x 9″.  Since the hammock is made of parachute nylon it is extremely thin (but very durable) and I was able to compress it even smaller.  It weighs only 20 ounces and is strong enough to hold 400lbs of weight!

I really like the tree slings (see the pictures below) that were sent along with the hammock.  It makes hanging your hammock a breeze and takes no time at all.  Simply loop the sling around a tree or pole, pull it tight and then take the caribiner from the hammock and clip it into whatever knot you want.  There are multiple knots along the rest of the rope from the sling which enables you to adjust the height or tension of the hammock without having to constantly loosen the straps and re-tighten them.  Also featured on the tree slings is a heavy duty protector that prevents the tree from being damaged by the rope.

Here are the features / specs of the hammock:

* Made of parachute nylon
* High-strength
* Mildew-resistant
* Triple-stitched seams
* Nautical-grade hanging carabiners
* Supports up to 400lbs

I don’t think that I can stress enough how comfortable this thing is.  The parachute nylon is very soft to the touch and it literally feels like you’re floating on air.  Trust me when I say that once you hop in you won’t want to get out.  I could have laid there literally for 10 minutes and would have easily fallen asleep!  This is an item that I will definitely be keeping in my bug out bag and will also be using from now on whenever I go camping.  I’ll probably drive two poles into the ground in my backyard as well so I can set it up and use it near my fire pit.  It will be nice to be able to lay there in comfort at night and look up at the stars!

Below are some more pictures for you to check out.  All in all, this is a great product and I highly recommend it to all you campers, hikers and survivalists out there.  I give this product a 5 out of 5 rating!  So what are you waiting for? Order yourself one of these hammocks today – it’s well worth the price and you won’t be disappointed!
