Elements of Survival – The World’s Smallest Survival Kit: A Product Review

eos kitMaking sure that you always have the basic essentials on hand at all times is very important and having even the simplest of supplies can make a big difference when you’re caught in an emergency or survival situation.  Elements of Survival has done an excellent job at creating a very compact survival kit that easily fits into your pocket.  Think of it as a backup in case you are separated from your main survival gear.  Perhaps your house has been destroyed, or something happened at work and you didn’t have time or weren’t in the right spot to get back to your EDC bag.  All too often this ends up being the case where people escape with only the clothes on their back.

This nifty little kit weighs a mere 1.5oz, is just over 2″ long and contains enough of your basic survival supplies (22 items) that will allow you to perform numerous tasks such as starting a fire, cutting wood and other items, catching fish, making trip wires and snares, repairing clothing, etc.  I could literally make a list of over a hundred different things that all these components could be used for but I’ll save that for another article.  The included black survival band also holds the tin together really well so you don’t ever have to worry about it accidentally opening up on you while it’s in your pocket.

Lets go over what’s included in the kit:1 LED flashlight *15 hrs burn time

  • 1 ferrocerium rod *500+ fires
  • 1 razor blade
  • 1 military snare wire
  • 2 safety pins
  • 1 matchbook
  • 1 button compass
  • 1 small fish hook
  • 1 large fish hook
  • 2 fishing weights
  • 2 fire tinders
  • 1 large eye sewing needle
  • 1 roll of (20 ft. 30lb. test) braided fishing line
  • 2 water purification tablets *purify 2 liters of H2O
  • 1 reflective tape for signaling
  • 1 signal whistle *works in cold and wet conditions
  • 1 black survival band *Seals outside of the container
  • 1 Steel Tin *make char cloth

This kit is perfect for everyone, even for all you minimalists out there who don’t want to be bothered with carrying an EDC bag everywhere you go.  By purchasing one of these you are guaranteeing yourself that you’ll at least have some of the basic essentials with you at all times in the event that you are ever caught in a crappy scenario.  With Christmas coming fast around the corner you might also want to consider giving some of these as a gift – they make great stocking stuffers!

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received the survival kit for free from ElementsofSurvival.com as coordinated by Deep Creek Public Relations in consideration for review publication.
